Skepticon 2025, will be held on the weekend of 3rd-5th of October and is streaming over Zoom.

It features a stimulating slate of speakers on science and critical thinking.

Our host is comedian and science communicator Alanta Colley, creator of the fun debate series Sci Fight.

Keynote speaker, Elizabeth Finkel, author of the new book Prove It! A Scientific Guide for the Post-truth Era, will address how the scientific method has addressed major challenges in the past and can guide the future.

Dave Farina, creator of the wildly popular YouTube channel Professor Dave Explains, looks
at how the USA arrived at a place where science denial is a threat to democracy.

Melanie Trecek-King will present insights from her upcoming book “A Field Guide to Misinformation”.

The creators of The Conditional Release Program podcast will examine conspiracism in Australia.

Journalist Peter Hoysted (The Australian) and science editors Liam Mannix (The Age) and Signe Dean (The Conversation), will address the challenge of communicating science to the general public.

Other speakers will address a wide diversity of topics including the nature of mental illness, integrity in scientific research, the lifecycle costs of renewables, the nature of misinformation, the benefits and risks of AI, and the molecular chemistry of mummification.
